NECW CLOSES IT'S DOORS AFTER TEN YEARS

11.08.2010

As I sit here debating wiether or not I am going to turn on Monday Night Raw in the next seven minutes as I have pretty much given up on the mainstream world of Professional Wrestling I do have to say I did not tune in to last night's TNA Turning Point Pay Per View. I didn't feel like wasting my time watching a show that I feel going into it looked like a crap show. I mean I have no interest in Jeff Hardy defend his title against someone like Matt Morgan of all people. Bad enough I don't like watching Hardy wrestle. The line up for this Pay Per View if something I don't feel was something worth paying to watch on TV or even attend live. Even if I was in Florida.

It comes to a great displeasure that I found out today a great Northeast promotion, New England Championship Wrestling is closing doors after ten years. NECW put on some great family friendly shows with an old style independent wrestling feel, and some great talent. President Sheldon Goldberg issued an official statement which you could read on their official website http://www.necwwrestling.com/. They will still continue to post first run episodes at http://www.necw.tv/ for the rest of the year.

I've had the opportunity to attend a couple NECW show when they visited Connecticut and they were some of the best shows I've attened. NECW, you will be missed.

In other news CTWE will be running their December show in Bethany, CT at the Bethant Town Hall. It will be a tribute show for Mike E Milano, former DPW promoter who recently passed. The show will be held Saturday, December 18th and proceeds benefit the Meile (Milano) family. http://www.ctweprowrestling.webs.com/  for more info and match listing. The is sure to be a good show.

Championship Wrestling posted the 11.06.2010 episode at http://www.championshipwrestlingtv.com/

Episode #586 of Ohio Valley Wrestling which aired 11.06.2010 is now online http://www.ovwrestling.com/

Anyone know of any other indy wrestling with online TV please let me know and I will post the links here.

Goodbye WWE, Goodbye TNA

10.14.2010
After tuning in to TNA Impact tonight and 55 minutes later not having seen one bit of wrestling or anything that resembled it I decided to just shut it off. I give up. Lately it seems as if TNA or better yet Bischoff and Hogan do not care what the wrestling fans want to see. When TNA started in 2002 it was a good alternative to WWE at the time was the only wrestling on national TV. Over the years they have been up and down but pretty consistent on their wrestling action. Providing us, the fan with new stars to watch while bringing in some familiar names.

Earlier this year Bischoff & Hogan came in as part of their creative force and as on screen attractions only to hog the camera and take away what was once great about TNA. Sunday's Bound For Glory Pay Per View was a decent show. Solid ring action throughout. With the exception of course The Tag Team match between Nash, Dinero & Sting vs. Jarrett & Samoa Joe. I didnt really care about this match going into it. When Jarrett walked out I cared less. It had no impact. "They" were to be revealed this evening. With the result being Bischoff, Hogan & Hardy.

With the constant let down in professional wrestling lately I have become disinterested in what both TNA & WWE are offering. I have been a fan of Professional Wrestling close to 30 years. I have seen ups and downs this industry and ups and downs with the creativity. I have watched any kind of wrestling out there. Whether it be in big arenas to small gyms or Knights of Columbus halls. I enjoyed it all. I have always been a fan of independent wrestling. When I was younger there were groups like the Savoldi's ICW/IWCCW, the NWF, Tri-State Wrestling, IWA and so on. I remember coming home from school everyday to watch World Class Championship Wrestling on ESPN at 4:00pm. The AWA on Saturday night's on ESPN. I wanted to watch it all.

In this day and age when mainstream professional wrestling as a whole is on a down side there are lots of groups out there that are providing decent product. The internet is a wonderful place for such groups. Many small independent wrestling companies post television shows on their websites to view or download for free. I watch many of these and was always struggling to find time to watch them all. As it is on this Thursday night that I write this. I am disappointed with tonights TNA programming. Feeling insulted by the creators. I tuned in and nothing in an hour. Not one actual wrestling match. I turned it off. I was getting set to watch this weeks NWA Anarchy I downloaded when I turned on the TV ten minutes later and it still being on Spike still no wrestling was on. I out on the Anarchy show and was satisfied with what I watched.

After the passed few weeks I have decided to dedicate this column to actual wrestling. Groups that provide fans of wrestling with actual wrestling. ROH, Chikara, Dragon Gate USA, EVOLVE, and various other independent wrestling organizations no matter how big or small from around the world. I may still cover some TNA & WWE Pay Per Views on occasion but I want to talk about the good stuff. I hope you enjoy it.

Bound For Glory "They" Revealed, An honest opinion.

Alrighty, the last couple months were built up in TNA for today as 10.10.10 was repeatedly screamed by Abyss and recievnign orders from "They" whoever they are. Tonight we find out who "They" are.

The show opens with a World Tag Team Title match. Motor City Machine Guns (Champs) vs. Generation Me (Challangers). Every time the MCMGs step into the ring you are about to get a special treat. These guys could really work. I have only seen Generation Me a couple times but have been impressed with what I saw. I do have to say considering these teams put on an awesome show. These teams should be headlining this damn show with all the action they put on. But as the same time understand they need to get the crowd pumped for the rest of the show. Sabin & Shelley retain the Tag Titles after a Skull & Bones.

***** Match

I wrote last week how the WWE Women's Division is suffering. While not all that much better here they actually let there Women wrestle and most of the time a good match is put on. Angelina Love vs Madison Rayne vs Velvet Sky vs.  Tara. While I hate multi way matches. HATE them. Find them ridiculous, unrealistic, non traditional, this was a pretty decent match. Tara wins with a rollup and hold the tight for three

*** Match

Ink, Inc sorry miss this one. Had technical difficulties with my computer and missed the whole match due to it. Must've been the site I was watching from. But I will for an opinion on Orlando Jordan. I decent wrestler stuck is a stupid fucking gimmick. Seriously. This makes his whole WWE run look great. Eric Young is another solid wrestler that keeps getting hurt stupid gimmick after stupid gimmick. He seems to be having fun out there but everything they come up with for this guy makes him look stupid.

TNA X-Division Title Match. Now both men could go. Jay Lethal has been a wrestler I followed in the indys for a few years and have to say he is also one of my favorites in TNA right now. Douglas Williams is another great wrestler so this match is sure to be hot. The action went back and forth. Williams did a bunch of moves that reminded me of the Dynamite Kid (hey Taz said that too! but its true.)  A classic 80's style Junior Heavyweight style match. No not from the U.S. but matches you would see in maybe Japan or Eurpoe. Lethal wins and retains the X-Division Title. Second best match of the night.

**** Match

Oh no, of course we couldn't get away with just a simple win here. Lethal jumps into the crowd to celebrate with the fans and here come Robbie E & Cookie. Fuck that gimmick is so stupid. E attacks Lethal and rips him apart. Robbie E and Cookie do an in ring promo. This whole Jersey Shore paroday gimmick is so fucking dumb. I think it may be worse than most WCW gimmicks. TNA looks more and more like WCW each week. And guess what, so do the ratings. Not during they're hot period of course. They need to do something here and not be so stupid. But I will save that for another colum.

Monster's Ball Match RVD vs. Abyss This match was definetly bulit up enough. And had a lot riding as it was built as a huge fued and this should settle something. The match was mediocre. Abyss character just seems to cartoonish to me sometimes. The two brawled all over the inside and ringside area. RVD's most impressive manuver was the "Rolling Thunder" over the top rope onto Abyss through a table. This looked great. RVD wins after hitting Abyss with Janice and the a Five Star Frog Splash. Abyss then of course yells Ten Ten Ten and reminds us once agan "They" are coming.

*** Match

Handicap Match Kevin Nash, Sting, and D’Angelo Dinero vs. Jeff Jarrett and Samoa Joe. Featuring 3 wrestlers passed their prime in 1995. I was hoping Joe would save this match and make it somewhat interesting. Jarrett walks out on Joe. Not really surprised. Don't really care. I hated this whole thing. Didnt even want it to happen. Nash, Sting, Jarrett please retire and do something other with yourselves like boring the shit out of me each and every week on TV. It's not 1991, or 92, or 93 anymore. the wrestling world doesn't need you anymore. Sting was once great, but doesn't need to wrestle. Lost it long ago. Nash never had it. Jarrett should've never left Memphis where was once great. Joe should be pushed to the top and go for the title. When he arrived he had a great program with Kurt Angle. That would be something to see as a world title fued. I will stop running on about this now.

Doesn't deserve one star.

Team 3D come out and claim they are going to retire. Don't lie. You are here to make me miserable and show up on TV doing the same gimmick you've been doing for the last 15 years. They say they want one more match and against the World Tag Champs The Motor City Machine Guns. Oh God!, please don't book that match. I don't want to see the MCMGs in the ring with Team 3D.

Lethal Lockdown EV2 vs. Fortune This was much better than I expected honestly. I loved watching ECW when it was around. But I think some of them need to give it up, some I never cared for. Sabu I do have to say still has it and moves around so swiftly in the ring. The match was done well. lots of blood and violence. AJ Styles is a great worker and shows some diversity in style working with EV2. Kazarian is also another solid worker. The end came when Dreamer hit the Death Valley Driver on a chair on Syles for the 3 count.

**** Match.

World Title Match Anderson vs Hardy vs Angle Forget this match forget it. The concept was stupid. Hardy wins when Hogan comes out and gives Hardy a crutch and "They" are revealed. Hogan and Bischoff. Such stupid fucking stupidity. And Jeff Hardy as Champion? A man that has face paint, wears baggy pand and has a snot rag hanging out of his  pants as champion? The "They" build up was so stupid. going at it for months and this is what "They" deliver? A stupid NWO type gimmick. Something that just should not have been done but thats WCW oops I mean TNA for ya. Not like the ratings were bad now they are going to plummet. I hated this whole idea. hated it. I can't even believe what Bischoff does sometimes. If he and Hogan weren't so damn attention hungry we might have actually had something decent happen here. We might actually have a good product in TNA each and every week. We maight actually have a decent wrestling alternative on TV every week. I've watch wrestling for close to thirty years and have never been so annoyed with a wrestling product before. Sure something here and there but this really takes the cake. Bischoff and Hogan are such ego maniacs its ridiculous. They don't know when to say quit. See ya TNA. Lost another fan.

10.03.2010 Hell In A Cell, 10.04.2010 Monday Night RAW...snorzeville

10.03.2010 Hell In A Cell...Not quite living up to the hype

Sunday nights PPV was just something I was not expecting. They hyped it up quite a bit and it actually had me very interested in seeing the show and expecting an excellent show. The show started off excellent with the 3 way United States Championship submissions count anywhere match. Daniel Bryan getting the win by making the Miz submit on the entrance ramp.

I want to know why the Orton/Sheamus match was booked 2nd. A WWE Title Match 2nd. Awful, AWFUL booking on their part. I really had high expectations going into this match. I am not a fan of Sheamus by any means but I thought Orton could pull a good match out of him and thus I was proved wrong. A Steel Cage Match with no blood? Really? Sheamus rubs Ortons face into the cage which ya know, ususally a sign that some blood is going to be spilled. Nope. Kinda wondered actually why this match was in a cage. No reason for it.

Cena vs Wade Barrett. OK, I didn't care about this match either. But love the ending. Sure no one seemed to be into it. It didn't look as if Barrett or Cena were either.

The Undertaker vs. Kane. My God! if I was in the arena I would have taken off to beat the traffic out of there. Shut the TV of 10 minutes in for the evening.

The whole show was a disaster. After the opening match everything was all down hill. At least I could watch the PPV's and somewhat enjoy them and walk away ok and say it was pretty good or mediocre. But this left me feeling like I had wasted the 2 1/2 hours I spent watching it.

10.04.2010 Monday Night RAW wow two nights of this garbage

Nexus of course stars off the evening to induct Cena into Nexus. Cena must read a prepared speech in which he reads off very sarcasticly. Eh.

I gotta say the tag match Cena/Tarver vs. Henry/Bourne is the first match I have seen Bourne win in quite some time on television. I guess it worked for what it was but I sure as hell found it boring.

The Women's division is a damn joke these days. Natalya, a fine athlete in her own right vs Alicia Fox was done in about one minute as with most of the women's matches barely lasting 5 minutes. What is WWE afraid of if they actually put them out there for 10 or 15 minutes and have an actual match. Afraid people may show interest in the women's division as actual wrestling? Oh wait the overall product isn't presented as a wrestling product.

There is a lot of talent on the entire roster that is getting held down and pushed aside for stale main eventers. Daniel Bryan Danielson is easily one of the most talented wrestlers anywhere in the last ten years. And have him annihilated every week is doing nothing but hurting him. He is the United States Champion and every week weither it be the Miz or Sheamus it just looks bad for his character. Last night was completely ridiculous to have him just ripped apart in seconds and damn near beat to death. Instead of pushing him all the way to the top just beat him every week. So far he has only shown he could beat the Miz. I have been a fan of his for many years and know what he could do in the ring.

Edge is traded to Smackdown! Not really that bad of a deal. They are in much need of star power over there. While this part of the show was sorta ridiculous it was quite funny how Edge ripped into Cole for being a nerd.

Well that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

This should be a great show.

I have never actually been to a live Chikara show. Seen many DVD's and many of their wrestlers on other shows. And I really like their product. In an honest opinion there is not much wrestling that I truly enjoy compeletly. I do like TNA or WWE but do not think they are awesome. I have said in many discussions with people I truly enjoy Chikara or ROH or SHIMMER the most and think they all are some of the best out there. I watch wrestling for wrestling. and that is what these company's provide.
