After tuning in to TNA Impact tonight and 55 minutes later not having seen one bit of wrestling or anything that resembled it I decided to just shut it off. I give up. Lately it seems as if TNA or better yet Bischoff and Hogan do not care what the wrestling fans want to see. When TNA started in 2002 it was a good alternative to WWE at the time was the only wrestling on national TV. Over the years they have been up and down but pretty consistent on their wrestling action. Providing us, the fan with new stars to watch while bringing in some familiar names.
Earlier this year Bischoff & Hogan came in as part of their creative force and as on screen attractions only to hog the camera and take away what was once great about TNA. Sunday's Bound For Glory Pay Per View was a decent show. Solid ring action throughout. With the exception of course The Tag Team match between Nash, Dinero & Sting vs. Jarrett & Samoa Joe. I didnt really care about this match going into it. When Jarrett walked out I cared less. It had no impact. "They" were to be revealed this evening. With the result being Bischoff, Hogan & Hardy.
With the constant let down in professional wrestling lately I have become disinterested in what both TNA & WWE are offering. I have been a fan of Professional Wrestling close to 30 years. I have seen ups and downs this industry and ups and downs with the creativity. I have watched any kind of wrestling out there. Whether it be in big arenas to small gyms or Knights of Columbus halls. I enjoyed it all. I have always been a fan of independent wrestling. When I was younger there were groups like the Savoldi's ICW/IWCCW, the NWF, Tri-State Wrestling, IWA and so on. I remember coming home from school everyday to watch World Class Championship Wrestling on ESPN at 4:00pm. The AWA on Saturday night's on ESPN. I wanted to watch it all.
In this day and age when mainstream professional wrestling as a whole is on a down side there are lots of groups out there that are providing decent product. The internet is a wonderful place for such groups. Many small independent wrestling companies post television shows on their websites to view or download for free. I watch many of these and was always struggling to find time to watch them all. As it is on this Thursday night that I write this. I am disappointed with tonights TNA programming. Feeling insulted by the creators. I tuned in and nothing in an hour. Not one actual wrestling match. I turned it off. I was getting set to watch this weeks NWA Anarchy I downloaded when I turned on the TV ten minutes later and it still being on Spike still no wrestling was on. I out on the Anarchy show and was satisfied with what I watched.
After the passed few weeks I have decided to dedicate this column to actual wrestling. Groups that provide fans of wrestling with actual wrestling. ROH, Chikara, Dragon Gate USA, EVOLVE, and various other independent wrestling organizations no matter how big or small from around the world. I may still cover some TNA & WWE Pay Per Views on occasion but I want to talk about the good stuff. I hope you enjoy it.
